Every few years I feel like I am getting closer to self-actualization through dress. Yes, I’ve manipulated Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs to be entirely sartorial focused. I’ve come to realize when it comes to loving yourself you either start from the inside out, or like me, the outside and work towards the deep dark in.

Every year the Recording Academy hosts the biggest party of the American music industry: the Grammys. The industry congregates to the city of lights to celebrate the best of the year. Well, some of the best. 

I love winter, I do. That said, a few days into this ultra-cold snap and all I can think about I how delicious it would be to slip into a bathing suit, walk along a sandy beach, and jump into the ocean.

Tuesday February 05 marks Chinese New Year, welcoming in the Year of the Pig. To say I’m excited would be an understatement. Over the past few years, as I’ve come to know a little more, it’s a tradition that I’ve started in my home and life.

How is it that one designer’s name continues to come up when we hear about red carpet size-inclusive fashion? Thank Beyoncé that we have Christian Siriano because he is doing the bare minimum – making clothes for all sizes of glorious women – and somehow that’s the most.

With the new year a tonne of folks set out new routines, create resolutions, and take a chance on a fresh, new start. Some focus on finances while others work on wellness. Others try and kick naughty habits. This new year, are you attempting a new you?

One of the many things I look forward to every New Year is the opportunity to reflect, to edit, and to watch the Hollywood attend fancy award shows draped in black tie fashion. Hey, all work and no play makes for a dull life. Yet, technically I am both working and playing when reflecting on celebrity fashion. A win win.

Check out this 2019, fashion friends. Isn’t she gorgeous already? I know it hasn’t even been a haute couture minute just yet – we’re on day two - but I can’t shake the feeling of something on the horizon and the ripe opportunity to renew.

During the holidays, I do try and take a few days to wind down. Wine and beer glasses are enjoyed, bellies are full, and lounging and laughing in every home I’m welcomed into are full on. It’s very, very nice. But it’s a new day: Hello Boxing Day. 

The holidays are just days away. For many they are already merrily underway. If you’re stressing about the last bits of preparation, don’t fret; I’ve got you. I’ve prepared a must-do list of everything that will keep you on track – and become everyone’s favourite - this holiday season.

Holiday preparations have consumed most of the people in my life. I realize not everyone starts as early as I do so I must be kind. There are presents, parties, wrapping, dinners, drinks, and festivities galore. Ho ho ho holy moly it is sensory overload.

You know what season it is? Of course you do: it’s engagement season. Every year when the holidays come ho-ho-ho-ing, it’s time for third ring fingers to get glow-glow-glowing. Forget jingle bells, it’s bling ring dinging.
