Something I have struggled with but haven’t identified fully, until just now is my trouble with packing for a visit to my hometown. As I prepare to whip a bag together for a quick weekend trip I am at a bit of a loss on what I’ll pack.

I’ve been told I think about certain things too much. I believe there’s a lot of truth to that. Let’s be clear: no one is saying that I am especially wise in my in-depth thinking, rather, it’s what certain things I spend my time thinking about that may be interesting.

Throw your hands up in the air if you devoured Ocean’s 8? Ah yeah. There’s something about a fast paced, heist movie that gets me going. Add a nearly all female cast in the mix and I am besotted. I have been playing Beyonce’s, “Who Run the World: Girls” in my head nonstop since walking out the theatre.

Each year the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) gathers the best and brightest together to celebrate the year. Cue Naomi Campbell, Kim Kardashian West, and Ralph Lauren. Fashion darlings made their way to Brooklyn Museum, NY for the festivities Monday night.

Recently I was gob smacked by something a friend told me. When another friend complemented her skirt she said thank you. She quickly – almost in the same breath - followed that with, ”I plan to wear it to every wedding this summer. Don’t tell.”

Earlier this week I got the email that Net A Porter's annual sale is on. Oh yes, first it's Net A Porter, then all the others. Fashion friends, what is a better feeling than the optimism that jolts through a body thinking they may get a beloved item in the shopping cart for a bit of a discount?

It’s not very often that I become outright smitten. Aside from dogs or beautiful shoes, there’s not much ooey-gooey going on inside this frigid unit. If you feel a “but” coming on, you’re correct. Because not even cold-hearted me can escape the modern fairytale-like charm of the upcoming royal wedding.

The first Monday in May may have come and went but it did not disappoint. I’m not Catholic but thank a god for the richness of the theme: Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination. I was yelling at the pictures and videos on my phone Monday night in a way that perhaps only a sports fan would on the most titillating final game of the season. It was glorious.

As with any true-life long love, my personal relationship with fashion and style continues to evolve. Last week I attended a panel discussion on sustainable fashion as a part of Fashion Revolution Calgary event calendar. One question posed that night has stuck with me since: when did we decide fashion should be cheap?

It’s no secret that I’m not into leggings unless one is working out. It’s more than that. Really I’m not into workout wear as a whole when one isn’t working out. It simply does not make sartorial sense to me. That said, like the LuLuLemon bag has advised me before, I’m trying to, “Do one thing a day that scares me,” especially in the interest of personal style.

Be patient, fashion friends. Winter will leave eventually. In the meantime, take advantage of this gnarly, white weather frat-boy-like-snow-puke and use your time in your home wisely. Yup, it’s time to clean as if it were spring. Kanye knows what's up.

I’m sure you’ve heard the expression, “Her style was so effortless,” before. Typically one imagines some Parisian “it” girl looking put together walking around confident AF. When someone says that expression around me, I tease, “Oh like a crazed woman at a drug store, at midnight, sick as a dog getting cough syrup and couldn’t-will-herself-to-get-dressed kind of effortless?” My humour rarely lands well.
